Our chains are gone. Baptism…. a new beginning

Our family was baptized in 2016 at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Penang. It was a very memorable day for us and a beautiful night indeed.

After the baptism

I had a calling to be baptised in 2014, during a very trying time in our lives. I told David that I would like to baptise the kids as well. I asked Him if he wanted to be baptised too and he said yes. So this was the beginning of our RCIA journey.

Our children were aged, 9, 6, 2 when we began RCIA. Attending RCIA with 3 young children was challenging, and we could not have done it without the help of the church community. There were people who helped take care of our kids, and even do art and craft with them while we attended the classes.

It was a very fulfilling journey for us, as we grew closer to the Lord. Healing also took place in our lives as we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Saviour. We got to know so many wonderful people who journeyed with us, and many of them are now very special to us.

As our baptism took place during the Easter Vigil mass, I was concerned that Izayah would not be able to stay up past midnight. But he did. He was the youngest to be baptised that night and after his baptism he said ‘I did it’! I have always known that God had a purpose for this boy’s life however that night I was again reminded of this. So many people were in awe of how God had worked in our lives. More on Izayah’s story in another post…

The church was beautiful. Music was wonderful. We felt so loved by God and his people and we will forever treasure these memories. A new beginning for us, the beginning of a life-changing journey with Jesus.
